![]() ![]() here and there? - View image here: -Intel drivers are written largely by Apple.nVidia drivers were originally written by Apple, but are now entirely developed by nVidia.ATI drivers were always written from the ground up by ATI.The difference from the Windows world is that whereas ATI and nVidia provide the entire GL stack in the form of an ICD, Apple has a model where the front end is developed and controlled by Apple, but all of the backend, direct hardware interaction and extensions are written by the HW vendors. Apple's got a lot of work to do ( that being said, I understand that nVIDIA and ATI do help apple here and there ). Personally, I give Apple the benefit of the doubt, since they have to write the drivers themselves, as opposed to the windows world where nVIDIA and ATI write the drivers themselves for their own hardware. Hello, I’ve been experiencing a strange problem, where OpenGL extensions viewer detects my renderer as my video card properly (Nvidia GeForce GO 7950 GTX) but some other benchmarks/demos/games do not, instead defaulting to GDI Generic OpenGL Extensions Viewer runs tests verifying me up to OpenGL 2. But none of the devs have a Mac so there isn't much work, let alone optimization, being done for the Mac client. I just compared the OpenGL extensions with OpenGL Extensions Viewer 6.3.7.0. The game is free, open source, and multi-platform. I just found this very nifty tool and I have a couple questions.(As background, this stems from problems with my favorite game in which some of the newer shaders and other effects are disabled on OSX due to "Apple's buggy OpenGL drivers" according to the devs.
